i've been a chocolately brunette my entire life, and for the last 4 or so years, i've had dreams of being platinum blonde. hair stylists and friends and family always tell me ...NO! you can't! you'll ruin your hair! and i've heeded this advice.... the double (maybe triple) processing required for taking a deep brunette like myself to a platinum blonde is intensive, no doubt. but god it's so glam.
but then i think to myself...it's been 15 years since any hair dye has touched my hair (and even then, it was just dark red lowlights). #yolo, am i right? i know it's going to slay my hair...it'll grow back!
several glam AF women have been inspiring me lately, and after a chat with my sister and her boyfriend, who is a very good stylist/colorist, i've decided (as of right now) that January 2017, i'm going PLATINUM BLONDE for 3 months! i can't stop looking at Kim Kardashian and her foray into platinum blondness. Erika Bearman (formerly OscarPRGirl) and her one year dip into the world of blonde (and I think she's probably the closest to me in color...and she definitely pulled it off!) and then even women like...the Khaleesi and Angelina in Gone in 60 Seconds....
a few years ago, while in Tokyo, i was Alice for halloween, and i got a really fierce blonde wig. i think...i can pull this off! obviously, the wig is a wig and it's a little bit more of a honey blonde (with yellow on the ends), but i want to go all the way. platinum blonde ice queen!
and why January 2017 and not right now? 1. i want to think about it and do a LOT of research about how to minimize the damage to my hair. like coconut oil soaks before dying, hair masks, lavender shampoo, etc. 2. platinum hair is high maintenance. my sister's very cool and very talented boyfriend has agreed to be my blonde support team, do my roots once a month, and take me from brunette to my dream blonde. and i'll be at Purdue for the Spring semester of 2017 to graduate with my Ph.D!!!!! so he'll be able to maintain me :-)
OY! it's good to put it out there that i'm planning to graduate in Spring 2017. it forces me to keep my goals up to date and not let things slip. you know? so that's that. i'm going to be platinum blonde, January 2017, and i'll be Dr. Caitlin Surakitbanharn in May 2017 also.
cheers to BLONDE. what do you guys think?!?! any tips for how to take care of seriously bleached hair?
