day five gave us some major looks!
chris benz: ahh another fresh breath of air! chris benz is another young designer who critics love to pan for being loud and austentatious, but again... i think his collection is spot on for his target audience. chris benz isn't designing clothes for the park avenue mother of three with nannies; he's designing clothes for the downtown girl who enjoys dinner parties at the kenmare followed by a night on the le bain rooftop...so why shouldn't his clothes be loud and fun?! the seventies are back in full-force this season, and benz's take on the seventies is flirty and sexy. the prints in bright orange and sky blue are in perfect pairing with the sheer blouses and skirts, as well as the small pops of menswear in a light houndstooth. the striped print strapless dress reminds me a little bit of an afghan wrapped around a girl at the beach, but the same print in a skirt looks fresh and sassy. AND alejandro ingelmo did the shoes, which are sky high and drool-worthy. loves me some alejandro ingelmo!!
monique lhuillier: oh my glamour! this is new york fashion week at it's most beautiful. monique lhuillier always does stunning, beautiful, ultra-feminine dresses, but i loved the PANTS!!! the wide-leg, high-waisted pants are tailored perfectly at the hips to create sexy, swanky movement as the girls walk, and when paired with bustiers and fitted, cap-sleeve tops...the result is super-duper chic. and of course..the evening wear!!! i LOVE red, and i LOVE when a designer uses it unabashedly, in the way valentino did. it's such a sexy, stand-out color, and the ruffled skirt with the sparkley top is a red-carpet dream. i foresee taylor swift in the champagne and diamonds-esque gown, and the electric blue chiffon dream that was sent down the runway will certainly send someone to the best-dressed list when award season rolls around. the entire collection is a knockout!
before you ask..no, i haven't forgotten about marc jacobs on day five..it was just so major..it's getting it's own post!!!
