nyfw ss11: day seven highlights!

Caitlin Surakitbanharn

day seven and the amazing just kept coming.....

michael kors: michael kors is the king of american sportswear, and the cfda lifetime achievement award winner put out a cheery, well-tailored collection that made the uptown, front row gals squirm with excitement. the slouchy but flattering pants are easy breezy summertime, weekends in the montauk, and i love that he paired even the most unexpected outfits with the luggage brown belt (he even belted swimsuits! genius!).  most refreshingly, however, is the fact that his collection isn't all white.  the magenta gown with the thigh high split is beautiful cut and wearable for women of many ages (given they're still doing squats and leg lifts!), and the lavender tiered, ruffley dress is literally perfection.  sportswear isn't my thing, in the least, but that flouncy purple dress is everything i could ever want from an easy day-to-dinner dress.

marchesa: are there even words, really?  marchesa, season after season, gives us red-carpet stunners.  georgina and keren are two of the most creative and talented designers alive, and every girl in the world would absolutely die to wear one of their dresses.  i like, literally can't write a review on this presentation because there's nothing to say except... it's perfection.  their draping techniques, the asian influence, hand-painted details, and the kind of bead-work that brings most women to their all comes together to create unique, insanely gorgeous, and show-stopping gowns.  there isn't anything marchesa makes that i wouldn't wear.  i'd wear it to the office..i don't care.  the dresses are works of art that deserve to be appreciated and loved..and this collection just further reinforces their place at the front of the pack of the fashion elite.
