Hyden Yoo - SS12

Caitlin Surakitbanharn

where did summer go and how is it already September/New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012?

my busy week kicked off a day earlier than the "official" start of NYFW with a trip to 1920's neocolonialism in lower Manhattan with Hyden Yoo.  i dig Hyden Yoo - i think his collections are cool and nostalgic, and this collection was full of neutrals in flapper era silhouettes and well placed dashes of color.  the hemlines were still long (long live our maxi skirts!), and the shorts were boasting a high waist with exaggerated cuffs.  and again, like last season, he put them in character, having the models hanging around the Cabanas at the Maritime Hotel as if they didn't have a care in the world beyond their gin cocktails....

the hair, done by Marco Santini, was perfectly complimentary to the clothes, a nest of teased curls at the nape of the neck with well-sculpted waves framing the face, and the make-up was kept simple, save for a strong, merlot-red lip.

(so lovely.)

life is a picnic, isn't it?
a fabulous way to start NYFW off!
