for spring, Proenza Schouler took us to a 1950's Polynesian resort in southern California. palm tree prints, mustard yellows, mossy browns, a burnt orange eel skin skirt (yeah..eel skin), paneled black/brown jackets that somehow recall a swimming pool or perhaps a wet suit... the references are strong and specific but not all too literal. yet again...the wonder boys of New York fashion nail the downtown woman while still making her none too predictable.
the hair, in particular, was a high point... stylist Paul Hanlon gave the girls a modern, feminine version of James Dean's signature look..
the dresses are particularly stunning - fitted, sophisticated shapes with saucy open backs, embossed eel skin skirts, and beautiful, beautiful fabric.
the finale dress is an absolute dream - i'd literally KILL to wear this dress. i'd do anything to spend an evening in this little number! the back alone is enough to stop traffic...
ahh, i dream of Proenza. i can't help it... it's just SO good.
