style crush: Barneys New York's Amanda Brooks

Caitlin Surakitbanharn

the offices of Barney's.  it's the kind of place that dreams are made of (my dreams, anyways).  i imagine it to be kind of like what little girls dream of as "fairy princess land," a place where the chicest women wear the most amazing clothes and lead the most insanely glamorous lives.  now, i know that the ladies and gents of Barneys work their butts off.... the pieces that make up the stock of Barney's New York (and the Barney's across the world) are the most well-edited collection of clothes, accessories, and personal goods available to purchase - and an inventory like that takes hard work.

at the helm of it all...Amanda Brooks.  she is Barney's unbelievably glamorous Fashion Director - and one of my personal style icons.  when she appeared on the Twitter scene earlier this year... i was thrilled because finally...a view into her insanely chic outfits and daily life.  she tweets about her buyers meetings (the sample room at Christian Louboutin, the studio of Proenza Schouler...i mean...DIE) and also about her outfits once in awhile.  she's a huge fan of Celine (her leopard Celine bag is on the next level of covetable), and other minimalistic designers... and her look is one of cool, effortless, chic minimalism - with a dash of leopard, always.

various sized leopard prints, her beautiful leopard Celine bag.

an Olatz blouse.

leopard fur coat paired with slouchy jeans. perfection.

Balenciaga boots.

Alexander Wang top (i have this shirt!), Thakoon shorts.  she makes hiking look chic.

her style is so effortless but so glamorous - the perfect combination of high and low, always!  and she's so gorgeous!  her take on minimalism is so refreshing - in an era where girls and women are piling on 500 bracelets, necklaces, and rings...she always takes the less is more approach, letting her clothes speak for themselves and keeping things simple.  hence why she's one of my icons - i am a die-hard minimalist... the less the better.  i haven't worn a necklace in probably 2 years!

also, she always focuses on fit.  her clothes fit her beautifully - another detail of well-executed minimalism.  she always look put-together and classy, but keeps a bit of downtown edge with prints, boots, and not-too-perfect hair.

Love her!!!
