Alice + Olivia FW 2012

Caitlin Surakitbanharn

for as much as i love minimalism, i equally love sequins, full skirts, dramatic gowns, and total fashion unicorn looks.  Alice + Olivia, a long time favorite, always caters to that side of me... the girly, glam party frocks, the flouncy skirts, the bright colors and more sequins than any girl knows what to do with it.  her Fall 2012 collection didn't disappoint yesterday.

i always view Stacey Bendet's collections as kind of hedonistic - all about having fun and drinking champagne and eating the cake - and yesterday's presentation was no different.  her theme...the year of the dinner party, a Lolita/'Coquette cool' woman with a specific attention to detail....Momofuku cakes sat atop a lavishly decorated table with candles burning, champagne was flowing, vodka cocktails were aplenty, and little Magnum ice cream bars were being passed around.  and that was before i even saw the clothes!

ok so on to the clothes - i'll be the first to admit that i'd rip every outfit off the models and wear them all.  literally every piece.  even the leather hot shorts!  the collection included full length gowns for the first time - and this foray into evening wear was a smash hit - stunning mermaid gowns, peplums, glitter, full ball gowns, slinky columns... there was an evening look for every girl.  the cocktail gowns and day wear equally stunned - particularly a short gold sequin sleeveless shift with a red knit (complete with a red fur collar - and um i was considering knocking that model down and stealing it from her!) as well as a punchy black & white graphic print "poof skirt" paired with a royal blue metallic knit tee.

winter whites were a plenty, as well as a Ziggy Stardust pair of green and black striped pants.  another favorite, a navy blue/purple-ish sequin and lace peplum strapless cocktail dress... i'd kill to wear that.  it was flawless.

i kind of want to see Rooney Mara in this.

this sweater with the red fur - BEST piece for me.  immediately want to wear it every day.

also - please obviously note the KILLER shoes - another recent addition to the Alice + Olivia portfolio.  they're so much fun, right?  sexy, playful...everything.

HUGE thank you to the lovely Jennifer M of Alice + Olivia for the invite - you're the best & threw quite the party!!
